DIY Clean And Freshen Your Garbage Disposal

Have a smelly garbage disposal? You can clean and freshen your garbage disposal using some simple household items.  A “clean garbage disposal” will smell nice and fresh by following some simple steps below:

Clean Garbage Disposal

1. Run hot water for about 1 minute and turn off
2. Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda down the garbage disposal
3. Flip garbage disposal on for 2 seconds to swish baking
soda around
4. Let sit for 15 minutes
5. Pour 1 cup of vinegar into garbage disposal (if it fizzes
out, that’s great!)
6. Boil water and pour down drain. Let sit for a few minutes
7. Run hot water and flip on garbage disposal about 1-2
minutes

Freshen Garbage Disposal

1. Cut lemon into small wedges
2. Place in ice tray
3. Pour vinegar over lemon
4. Freeze
5. Freshen garbage disposal by throwing in 1-2
cubes
6. Turn on garbage disposal for 30 seconds
7. Run hot water down garbage disposal for 1 minute
and turn off
