What does Jennifer Lopez do to look so good at 50?!
I know as I work on becoming the person I want to be, making a point to adopt some health and beauty tips from my favorite celebrities is a top priority and for good reason.
I work in Hollywood too!
As it turns out, I came across an article that answered my question, which revealed 11 Anti-Aging secrets of Jennifer Lopez. Below is a list of my top 7 beauty secrets to adopt from the multi-talented singer.

I suppose there is a reason why they call it “beauty sleep” because J. Lo says that despite her busy schedule, no matter what, she makes sure she gets in at least 8-10 hours of sleep per night.
I can most certainly improve on this one.
I don’t have a schedule nearly as busy as Jennifer Lopez, and yet, I sometimes find it hard to get in 7 hours of sleep.
My issue, and I’m working on it, is getting to bed and waking up at the same time. If I can be more consistent with my sleep schedule, I’m sure I can get in 8 hours of my beauty sleep.
Therefore, if you plan to look like Jennifer Lopez at 50, be sure to get in those zzz’s!
One look at Jennifer Lopez’s body and you KNOW she eats clean, in addition to regularly working out.
However, what does “eating clean” mean exactly?
Well, it means limiting sweetened beverages, large amounts of carbohydrates, processed foods, sugar, junk food, fatty meats, caffeine, alcohol, trans fat, and fatty oils.
Instead, opt for water, lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nonfat dairy, lean meats, fatty fish, nuts, and healthy oils like olive or avocado.
J. Lo loves, loves, loves her water!
She says she tries to get in at least of 8 cups of water per day. This is something I need to work on too because most days, I barely get in 3 cups of water.
Ooh…not good if I plan to look that fabulous in my 50’s, right?
If you have the same issue, you can try making your own DIY spa or fruit infused water by adding lemon, cucumber, strawberries, or basil to help encourage you to drink more.
Otherwise, to successfully get in your 8 cups of water by the evening, be sure to start drinking early as soon as you get up in the morning.
Think of water as the fountain of youth!
Anyone who is big on skincare will tell you to not smoke because smoking robs your skin of moisture.
Consequently, and as you may have already guess, smoking is a huge no-no with Jennifer Lopez.
Likewise with drinking.
The “Jenny from the block” star says that she does not drink, but will on occasion have a celebratory drink for a special occasion.
Now I don’t smoke, but I am a social drinker when I am out with friends. However, learning now that Jennifer Lopez hardly drinks, maybe I should start doing the same!
Want to know how J. Lo gets such glowing skin?
Her secret is using glycolic acid because she likes how it keeps her face looking young and fresh.
J. Lo does splurge on expensive skincare products ranging upwards of $200 or more, but surprisingly, her go to product is quite affordable that even every day ladies like you and I can use.
Lopez likes to use L’Oreal’s Bright and Reveal Brightening Day Moisturizer SPF 30, which you can buy for under $20.
That’s affordable, right?
I personally have not tried glycolic acid yet, but I do have one that came in my Discovery Kit from Tula, which offers great skincare products for acne prone skin.
If glycolic acid is the way to go to get glowing skin, then I’ll be sure to use my Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Gel Toner as part of my regular skincare routine.
Another area I can improve on is making sure I wear my sunscreen every day.
I do wear it, but sometimes I don’t like to because I don’t like applying extra product on my face since I have suffer from acne.
I finally have been able to get my acne under control with hardly any breakouts by changing my skincare routine, and besides, some sunscreens leave an ashy residue on your face, which is not a cool look if you are a person of color.
Still, I know how important it is to wear sunscreen every day when going outdoors.
The article I read didn’t mention which sunscreen Jennifer Lopez uses, but I like using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 70 because it’s very lightweight and again, it doesn’t leave any residue on my skin.
For added protection to prevent premature aging from the sun, try wearing a large brim hat or use a stylish parasol.
Another top beauty skincare tip to adopt from J. Lo is to meditate daily and to say mantras.
I should try meditating more, not just to help with anti-aging, but to clear a lot of the junk that’s in my head. There are many great benefits to meditating, so if you don’t already do it, both you and I should start today!
Another thing Jennifer Lopez likes to do is say daily mantras. One mantra she likes to say to herself throughout the day is “I am youthful and timeless.”
I like that one and so far have been saying something similar to myself every day!
Saying a positive, daily mantra about being youthful and timeless definitely puts me in a good vibration. It’s one of Lopez’s skincare tips that I am most certainly am going to practice religiously.
