$5K Per Month Challenge Selling Digital Products

I Made the Decision

I was tired of having less than $30 in my bank account at the end of each and every month. Plus…

No cash in my wallet.

No savings.

And barely anything in my Roth IRA for my retirement.

Then one day I came across a TikTok video from this mother of five who said that “You can make $5,000-$10,000 a month selling digital products from working at home.”

It’s not like I haven’t seen one of these videos before.

Yet…there was something different about this particular video that made me believe that I CAN really do this and that making $5,000 a month is very doable.

That’s when I made the decision and commitment that I was going to start a digital product business,  quit my gig job driving for Uber Eats, and work full-time for myself as a content creator.

I Hired a Freelancer

I already knew what kind of digital product I wanted to create.

I wanted to create a pet planner, but I also wanted to create a digital pet planner since those digital products were becoming really popular.

The first thing I did was write out a checklist of the things I felt I needed to get started with my digital product business.

Obviously, I knew I needed a digital pet planner, but I didn’t know how to make one and I certainly didn’t have the time to learn how to create one.

As is, I was already driving and delivering for Uber Eats anywhere from 50-54 hours per week with only one day off.

So, I decided to hire a freelancer off Fiverr to make my digital and printable pet planner, which was great because it saved me a boat load of time.

Created a New TikTok Account

I already had a personal TikTok account, actually two, but the TikToker who inspired me to start a digital products business advises to create an entire new business account and to only post content about your digital products business that speaks to your target audience.

So, that’s what I did, but I didn’t post anything right away.

TikTok though is a bit annoying when it comes to having a link in bio.

All the other social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. allow you to have a link in bio right from the very beginning.

But not TikTok!

You have to have 1,000 followers to get a link with a personal account. If you have a business account you can get a link without 1000 followers, but now it is required that you upload official documents to show that you are a real business.

Meaning…you need an EIN number.

I already had one, but I didn’t want to be bothered with getting a 2nd one.

I was able to get 1000 followers by joining “grow lives” on TikTok, where people follow one another to grow their accounts, but that took me about 11 days do to.

In hindsight, I should have just gotten the EIN number.

I wasted those 11 days when I could have saved that time getting another EIN and regularly posting to my new account.

The $5K Per Month Challenge

However, something good did come out of spending time in the grow lives to gain 1000 followers!

I was able to follow another TikToker who had also started a digital products business and she was able to make $5,000 per month rather quickly by doing a six (6) month challenge.

She hit her goal in 22 days of starting her challenge.

WOW!

Plus, she offers private label rights  (PLR) digital products for other new business owners to purchase and resell to their customers as their own.

Doing a $5K challenge sounded like a great idea to me because I can easily come up with content to document my journey with a real goal in mind.

I said “What the heck. I’ll do it too!” and I started my $5,000 per month challenge on February 26, 2024 with a target date of August 26, 2024.

I am committed to achieve this goal…scared…but committed.

Not only will I be posting 2-4  TikTok videos per day on my business account as this fellow TikToker recommended, but I will also be tracking my journey on this blog with weekly updates.

Making $5,000 per month working for myself is exactly what I need to quit my job.

If other people can make $5,000-$10,000 per month selling digital products, so can I!

Like I said, I’m committed.
